The Port of Los Angeles will host a public meeting on the status of the Wilmington Waterfront Development Program on Thursday, March 30, from 6-8 p.m., at Banning’s Landing Community Center – the cornerstone of the project – located at 100 E. Water Street in Wilmington on the LA Waterfront.

Attendees will get a detailed update on the Wilmington Waterfront Development Program and Wilmington Waterfront Promenade.Port staff will present design updates for the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, evolving from the original Environmental Impact Report and Port Master Plan renderings to its current detailed design based on community feedback. Key elements of the design are public access and connectivity to the water’s edge. The Port encourages attendees to participatein a question and answer forum. Simultaneous Spanish translation service will be provided.

In October 2015, the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners approved Sasaki Associates, Inc. as the designer of the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade. In February 2017, the Harbor Commission approved T.Y. Lin International Group to design a pedestrian bridge on the Wilmington Waterfront, the Avalon Promenade and Gateway. Later this summer, the Port will host additional public meetings to gather community input on the design of the Avalon Promenade and Gateway.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Port of Los Angeles, with miles of public promenade and walking paths, acres of open space and scenic views, the LA Waterfront blankets more than 400 acres of prime waterfront property and boasts historic Los Angeles Harbor landmarks, such as the welcoming Vincent Thomas Bridge and Angels Gate Lighthouse. The busiest container port in North America, the Port of Los Angeles funds and maintains the LA Waterfront, and remains committed to enhancing public access to the waterfront by connecting visitors and local harbor communities with recreational and commercial attractions that expand and diversify the Port’s position as a premier source of economic vitality for the region.
